Popular urban music in Morocco

                 ♡ MUSIC IN MOROCCO ♡

                                   Bigg:
Taoufiq Hazeb better known by his stage name Bigg and Alkhaser is a Moroccan rapper from Casablanca who has born in 1983. Bigg studied Law in the Hassan II University in Mohammedia. He is considered one of the pioneers of Moroccan rap, mainly for his aggressive style and for his songs' themes, which express problems common among Moroccans. As a child Bigg was amazed by the American musical culture. He was highly interested in what was at that time east-coast west coast rap war. This influenced his choice of his stage name. First, he went by the name Bigg in reference to the Notorious B.I.G who was at that time the star of Bad Boy records. Even the last group he was in was called Mafia C which is a literal copy of Notorious B.I.G protégée. To satisfy his ego, he added another stage name to his existing one called The Done. This is a clear reference to Makaveli the Don which was the last name Tupac Shakur chose for his last Album: The 7 Day Theory.
Bigg began his real musical career at age 14. With two friends he created a rap group called "Thug Gang". At the age of 16, he performed for the first time, with his group, in the Sidi Belyout theatre in Casablanca. He then joined the group Cash Money, then X-Side. While he was rapping in English like most of other rappers, he had an idea to rap in Moroccan Arabic, also known as Darija. He turned his idea into reality by creating a group called "Mafia-C", which participated to the Boulevard des Jeunes Musiciens festival in 2001 which was a total success after the group won "the best rap group" award.
Having failed to get recognized by the Moroccan authorities as an artist, he tried to flea the country illegally. He was caught in Malaga and sent back home after he had spent two weeks in Spanish detention. Once Bigg returned to Morocco, he focused all his efforts on solo. The group work was not rewarding financially therefore Bigg finally decided to quit the group and to start on a solo career. He participated in the Casablanca Festival in 2006. On April 2007, Bigg was featuredd on TV for the first time at Al Aoula channel, in Al Aoula Show. Morocco Street Life is the title of the first documentary Bigg is featured within; one devoted to the Moroccan scene hip-hop, carried out by Dj Key, and one of the precursors of its kind.

Popular urban Music in Zimbabwe

               ♡   MUSIC IN ZIMBABWE ♡

Chimurenga
This was the famous prior to independence and just after independence. Chimurenga is a Shona word which means a struggle. Zimbabwe’s wars against the settler regime are called Chimurenga. Prior to independence Chimurenga was sung as a morale booster to the liberation fighters. Following independence, Chimurenga music usually delves on the social injustices perpetrated by the government. The music was pioneered by Thomas Mapfumo who now stays in United States of America. Thomas Mapfumo remains one of the best protest singers to ever come out of Zimbabwe. Some of Thomas Mpapfumo’s album has been banned on government radio stations. These are Toi Toi (2004), Rise Up (2006), The Long Walk (2007) and Exile (2010). Thomas Mapfumo has never returned to Zimbabwe since he relocated to United States of America more than a decade ago though he has performed in neighbouring South Africa a couple of times.

Other musicians to follow in Thomas Mapfumo’s footsteps are the late Pio Farai Macheka and human rights adctivist Raymond Majongwe. Unfortunatley, Raymond Majongwe’s music has been banned on all radio stations. Another musician who is currently doing well singing the Chimurenga genre is Jairos Chabvonga. Chabvonga who fronts the group Ngorimba Afro Fusion is slgowly finding his footing attracting sizeable crowd at  his shows

HARP

PARTS

TYPE OF INSTRUMENT→ plucked string instrument

MATERIALS USED TO MAKE IT →wood of maple, spruce, beech, brass, stainless, nylon, steel,

HOW IT IS MADE →
The design of the harp depends on the needs of the performer. Traditional harpers require small, lightweight instruments with leverage controlled chains. Classical harp players require much larger instruments with pedal-controlled chains.
HOW WE TUNE IT →
In order to tune the harp in the key of E flat, simply follow the diagram for the notes required. As a guide, start with middle C on the piano which is the 4th Octave C on the harpMake sure that all the levers are in the ‘off’ position (i.e. clear of the strings). With the tuning key and whilst positioned at the harp, turn the top of key away from you to sharpen the note, towards you to flatten it.Tune it until the note on the piano and the harp are in unison

Antonio Stradivari (Cremona, Lombardy, 1644, 18 December 1737) was the most prominent Italian luthier. The Latin form of his surname, Stradivarius , is used to refer to his instruments. His first violin was made of recycled wood

Son of Alessandro Stradivari and Ana Moroni. Between 1667 and 1679, he was probably an apprentice in Poll Androise's workshop.

In addition to violins, Stradivarius built harps, guitars, violas and violoncellos, between 1000 and 1100 instruments in total, 1 2 according to recent estimates, of which, about 650 are still now

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra has the most Stradivarius in its strings section, purchased from the Herbert Axelrod collection in 2006.
